Quickstart

Three paths; pick one: make a game in the browser with Origin; have your own agent make and publish a game; or publish a finished web game by script or API.

Before you start

  • An OriginGame account: sign in or register at /login.
  • Path three (script or API) also needs the account API token (og-...), created at /me/access.
  • Publishing any game needs a static web build with index.html at its root, a title and a 16:9 cover image (PNG or JPEG). With Origin, Origin prepares these.

Path one: make a game in the browser with Origin

  1. Open origingame.ai/agent in a desktop or phone browser and sign in.
  2. If the page says "Origin is in beta", your account has not joined the beta yet: choose "Request beta access" and you will be notified once you are in.
  3. In the Library, pick a way to start: "Describe" says your idea in a sentence; "Remix" starts from a published game; "Discover" starts from one of six play prototypes; "Surprise me" shows three concepts across different archetypes first.
  4. Origin starts working in a Session. You can send a message at any time to steer it, answer its questions, or stop the current turn.
  5. Commands run on an executor. The default is "Automatic": your Origin Runner when it is online and has the tools needed, otherwise a platform cloud sandbox. You can start without installing a runner.
  6. Open "Preview" to play the current build. On a phone, choose "Play": the current build opens full screen on the play page, and Back returns to the Session.
  7. When you are ready to publish, choose "Publish…" in "Publish": the composer is filled with a message asking Origin to publish the latest package and to show you the listing and storefront artwork first. You can also just say in the conversation that you want to publish.

The full guide to the workspace, checkpoints and runners is Origin.

Path two: have your own agent make and publish a game

Connect Origin MCP to your agent first, then ask it in plain language to make and publish the game. There are two ways to connect.

Configure many agents at once with Origin Kit

  1. Download Origin Kit (macOS, Windows) and open it.
  2. Choose "Sign in with Origin" and approve in the browser. Back in Kit, the "Agents" page lists the agents on this computer.
  3. Optional: pick an Origin model in the model menu on the agent's row, then restart that agent. Agents marked "Own models" (such as Cursor) skip this step.
  4. On the "MCP" page choose "Configure" next to the agent, restart the agent, then sign in to Origin in the browser when asked.

If you prefer a terminal, run the installer instead. It detects Claude Code, Codex and Grok on this computer, lets you choose which to configure, and writes the Origin MCP entry:

curl -fsSL https://origingame.ai/install.sh | sh

Which agents Kit supports is listed in Connect your agent.

Connect a single client by its MCP address

  1. In the client's MCP settings (often called Connectors, Integrations or MCP Servers), add a remote server.
  2. Name it origin, choose Streamable HTTP as the transport, and enter https://mcp.origingame.ai/mcp.
  3. On first use the client opens Origin's sign-in page; sign in and approve, with no key to copy. For a client that only takes fixed headers, use Origin Kit or the installer instead.
  1. Step 1 ·Add Origin

Run this in a terminal to add Origin MCP for all your projects.

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user origin https://mcp.origingame.ai/mcp
  2. Step 2 ·Sign in in the browser

Start Claude Code, type /mcp, select origin and choose Authenticate. The browser opens Origin’s sign-in page; sign in and approve.

    /mcp
  3. Step 3 ·Start using it

Type /mcp again; once origin shows connected, ask for what you want in plain words.

Ask your agent to make and publish a game

Once connected, say this to your agent:

  • Make a neon dodge game that works on phones, then publish it to Origin
  • Publish this game to Origin as "Neon Dodge" with cover.png as the cover

The agent publishes a new game through Origin MCP's deploy_create. Origin MCP's publishing guide requires the agent to get your permission before publishing publicly; after a successful publication it reports the game ID, the play link and the game page link.

Path three: publish an existing game by script or API

For when you already have a web build and want to publish it from a terminal or CI.

First create the account API token. Each account has one token, which you can copy or rotate at any time at /me/access:

Get an API token
  1. Build the game and check that the output directory has index.html at its root.
  2. Prepare a 16:9 cover: PNG or JPEG, at least 640×360, at most 5 MB.
  3. Publish with the deploy script or the HTTP API, whichever you prefer.

With the deploy script (needs bash, curl and Bun):

git clone https://github.com/fran0220/origingame-skill
export OG_HOST=https://origingame.ai
export OG_API_KEY=og-...
origingame-skill/scripts/deploy.sh ./dist --title "Neon Dodge" --cover cover.png

With the HTTP API directly (zip the build first):

curl https://origingame.ai/api/deploy \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OG_API_KEY" \
  -F "title=Neon Dodge" \
  -F "cover=@cover.png" \
  -F "file=@dist.zip"

On success the answer is 201: playUrl is the play address, portalUrl is the shareable link https://origingame.ai/g/<slug>, and gameId is what later updates use. Manage published games at /me/games.

Next steps

  • Publishing games: updates, making releases live, rollback and every upload field.
  • Game protocol: connect your game to leaderboards, cloud saves and multiplayer rooms.
  • Origin MCP: the asset search, media generation and code modules your agent can also use.
  • Script page: examples of publishing by script and API.
